18 march 2009 - Chesterfield-Clay Cross Junction. Network Rail measurement train goes south towards Derby (31459 is on tail). The British Rail Class 31 diesel locomotives were built by Brush Traction from 1957-1962 (total produced 263). Between 1965 and 1969 the entire class was re-engined, and fitted with English Electric engines similar to those used in class 37. Class 31 diesels were withdrawn mostly in 90s, e.g. in EWS due to introduction of class 66. Final two machines were sold in August 2018 into preservation to Mangapps Railway Museum, Essex.
