24 may 2010 - Warsaw, the WMH (an abbreviaton for polish Warsaw Steelworks Main Line - railway siding to Warsaw Steelworks. The name is slightly ironic, because through many years maximum speed allowed on this track was 10 km/h, with places where trains slowed just to 5 km/h). "Gagar" with a train loaded with rectangular blooms (one of steelworks products) climbs out of a mini-tunnel under the Powstańców Śląskich street. In a moment the train will arrive at Warsaw Jelonki station, from where it will continue its journey to Warsaw Main Freight Station. A short history of what's been happening here: through many years this rail line was flat like a table, but at the beginning of 2008 an express route S-8 started to be built nearby. Along with the roadworks the rail line was rebuilt - it goes in a mini-tunnel under the Powstańców Śląskich street and above the road junction of Lazurowa street and S-8 route. Beacuse the track now runs abruptly up some trains headed with "tamaras" oraz "stonkas" could not make it to the top, so PKP Cargo started from may to operate on this line with a more powerful unit - "gagar". According to the schedule trains to steelworks should be double-headed with "tamaras" (situation I've never actually seen), so it is unclear how long the "gagar" will stay here.
