17 september 2010 - Class 60 with Wolverhampton-Immingham empty steel freight passes Chesterfield. DB Schenker has made 20 locos available for sale lately. They will be scrapped probably. Class 60 is last, and most powerful main line diesel locomotive built in UK. Total of 100 of them were built between 1989 and 1993 by Brush factory at Loughborough. Most of them is stored currently. 66040 carries UK Army advert livery, and is only 18 years old.

Z czego wynika ich odstawienie? Jest to konstrukcja "udana inaczej"?

Były problemy z awaryjnością kiedy loki wchodziły do służby. Poza tym są to raczej udane maszyny, lubiane przez mechaników. Odstawiono je gdy dostarczono class 66 i przewoźnik, wówczas EWS po prostu więcej 60 nie potrzebował.

Była szansa na przesunięcie ich nawet do Polski albo Niemiec, ale do Pl pójdą 66 z EWS, a do Niemiec class 77 zamówione dla ECR. Tak więc czeka je złom, chyba że ktoś z Trzeciego Świata je weźmie.
