Photographed locomotives are fitted with a refurbished General Motors 645-12F3B engine, Dellner couplings, and electric train heating. Class 57 when it has served in Virgin Trains used to haul Pendolino units between Holyhead, and Crewe. Currently locomotives hauls Holyhead-Cardiff Central trains. Pierwotnie była to seria 47. W egzemplarzach widocznych na zdjęciu wymieniono silnik na General Motors 645-12F3B, zamontowano sprzęgi Dellner, oraz urządzenia służące do ogrzewania składu. Pojazdy mogą zostać sprzężone z jednostkami Pendolino, Voygerami, oraz Super Voyagerami. Gdy służyły w Virgin Trains przeciągały ekspresy London Euston-Holyhead na odcinku Holyhead-Crewe i z powrotem (ponad 100 km!). Od Crewe Pendolino śmigały samodzielnie pod drutem. Conwy Castle is visible at background.
