In the end of April 2012 I decided to utilize registered earlier domains phototrans.cz and phototrans.pl and try to differentiate content of these domains. The other reason was that I'm very unsatissfied propotion of traffic comming from Poland and outside Poland to phototrans.eu. I find main reason of this situation is that people outside Poland does not understand what is happening here and what are the rules of this page and why my photos are not good enough and so on. So I decided to (half)-separate visitors from different countries and spread permissions to local people to simplify live (especially new users) from abroad on phototrans.eu.
That are the reasons to create scopes which can be accessed by typing different addresses of this page. Till now we created 21 of these pages but few of them are not completed (which means passed permissions and fill up with photos). Here comes list of these pages:
Till now I finished baltic.phototrans.eu, phototrans.hu, phototrans.cz, phototrans.pl and yu.phototrans.eu. You can visit it by clicking links above. Please note that the names of pages are with a pinch of salt and can be changed for request of community.
Phototrans is divided into two layers:
Here is overview of scopes and layers in phototrans page. In the bottom there is shared vehicle database between scopes like phototrans.hu, phototrans.eu and so on. For this layer there is special permission Editor which supposed to clean it, make it more or less actual and remove spoil and mistakes. Editor can merge duplicate vehicles, change descriptions of photos, change vehicles assigned to photos and add new models of vehicles. Editor is a global permission, that means if you are Editor you are editor on every scope of phototrans.
In the upper part of this image you can see Photos layer. As I wrote before set of photos is different for each scope of photogallery but some photos can overlap in different sites. For example photos of ikaruses which were taken in Poland are visible now on phototrans.pl and phototrans.hu page. Author of photography can see availability of his photo under the photo page under description, for example:
Photo sets are different and permission related to photos are not global. Every scope (f. ex. phototrans.hu, phototrans.de) has own Blockers, Limiters and Registrators. For example if you are blocker on phototrans.pl page you can change visibility of photo only on phototrans.pl page and visibility on phototrans.pl page has nothing to do with visibility on different pages like http://phototrans.de, http://baltic.phototrans.eu. The same is with Registrators. Registrator is supposed to moderate new users who wants to join his page. He can decide if it will fit his conception or not. This function is also local because I want that every scope should be the most independent as possible. With Limiter permission is more different thing, limiter can only up or down daily allowed number of photos to upload for users which choosed on been choosen "Home Page" in its profile.
It has nothing to do with default visibility of user pages (about it will be later). I hope that it will avoid conflicts connected with misunderstanding.
During upload every photo has calculated visibility. Here it comes the alghoritm of counting visibility.
As you can see it is a simple logical OR between:
In this case shown on picture above we have example. Me took photo of karosa in Budapest... I have personal visibility to PL and EU scopes, but every photo from Hungary is automatically made visible in phototrans.hu page. Then Registrator of phototrans.net decided to make visible every photo from Budapest County (which almost the same as Budapest city but it is not important). City scope is not important because no one from Registrators have set visibility do available and registrator of phototrans.cz and phototrans.hu decided to make automatically visible all karosas buses in their pages (HU and CZ). The final calculated visibility is following: EU, HU, PL, CZ and NET - available other not and photo will be visible in those scopes. After photo publication Blocker of http://bg.phototrans.eu/ saw this photo and thought that it would be interesting and changed availability to yes in bg.phototrans.eu. But Blocker of phototrans.hu found this photo as a crap and removed visibility of this photo. Looks complicated? Try it and comment here.
Open Mode - if you are registered user and transport enthusiast of whole world. Set "Open Mode" after loggin in (valid only for session) or in profile (valid always). You will be able to see all photos (from every scope) uploaded to phototrans. Similar functionality has page http://open.phototrans.net but also available for unregistered users.
